Japanese wrestling standards of the 90s, particularly the early 90s, remain held in such high esteem that this very good sorta-interpromotional match whose worst participant is better than most current active workers is kind of a disappointment, at least to me. The physicality is beyond reproach and Toyota does a spectacular job of selling that she’s on death’s door, but that’s about as much story as this match has to offer, and that might have worked out better if this match was ten minutes shorter. This match is good, really damn good, but that’s as far as my praise extends.
