Batman: Year One

The biggest issue against this adaptation of “Year One” comes not from it being a faulty adaptation but from being perhaps too faithful. “Year One” ran for only four issues and its disjointed plot was smoothed over by the audience’s natural habits of consuming comics, and that short length and its frequent time skips don’t translate well to other mediums. I still like this take, though, and that’s mostly due to Bryan Cranston’s wonderful performance as Lieutenant James Gordon and Ben McKenzie’s pretty good version of a young Bruce Wayne. A good, flawed version of one of Batman’s better stories.
