Big Fish

A saccharine story about a sentimental traveler that tells tall tales about himself and the exasperated estranged son that aims to get him to tell the truth, one can hardly describe this paint-by-numbers tale without accidentally spoiling it. The father’s stories aim to be Dahlesque but land with all the charm of “Tales From Silver Lands”, though the occasional inspired visual keeps things on par with “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” in terms of watchability. The ending is fine, but it banks hard on the audience having an immense degree of emotional attachment to these characters, and we don’t.
