Black Mirror (Smithereens)

“I don't get recognized that much on the street.” -Tom Anderson, founder of MySpace

If every episode of this season of “Black Mirror” is a mashup or commentary on past episodes (and it is), “Smithereens” is a less complete but more human version of “The National Anthem”, and your opinion on this episode depends on how you respond to that summation. For what it’s worth, I’d take “Anthem” over “Smithereens”, but the food for thought presented in the third act might be more interesting than the discussion “Anthem” invites. It’s a wholly divisive season, though, so maybe you’ll hate this!
