Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie

My previous experience with "Underpants" extends to only the first book; I had already aged out of it when it was released, though I admired how it ran for the fences with its rank absurdity. "The First Epic Movie" translates that gusto to the medium of film, and marvelously so, shattering the fourth wall and changing animation styles at the drop of a hat in service of a joke (my favorite is the brief sock puppet sequence). Its sugar-loaded pacing can get a bit exhausting and it is too long despite being only eighty-five minutes, but I kinda loved this.
