Castlevania 2: Simon’s Quest

Noooope. Big ol’ nope. Even if you keep one eye on a walkthrough and manage to find the way through this game, the act of actually playing it feels like garbage. Enemies aren’t placed for interesting combat encounters, the bosses are piss easy, the levels require more patience than skill to complete on account of randomly-placed traps, and most crucially, one feels nothing making progress in “Simon’s Quest”. I’m completing a task, not going on a journey, and while future games would make sense of design decisions that have their roots here, this just, yeah, fuck it, screw this game.
