Chainsaw Man (Dog & Chainsaw)

The pilot of “Chainsaw Man” condenses what feels like an entire arc into one episode, for better or worse. The benefit is it strongly conveys the protagonist’s motivations and skills, culminating in a fun and gory brawl at the end, but it also means we’re burning through so much story that the remainder of the season has to justify hastily disposing of the story of this episode—if this stuff is necessary to “get to the good stuff”, then that good stuff needs to be outstanding. That’s impossible to judge at this point, but in a vacuum, this was amusing.
