Comix Zone

“Comix Zone” wasn’t dismissed because the Genesis was passé when it came out, it was dismissed because it didn’t bring much to the table. Exactly six screens to explore, combat that never feels right in the hands, and you have limited lives to navigate levels that feature plenty of instant kills. The art style is something to behold, and what conveyed bliss when everything clicks, but these are fleeting moments that have been replicated with greater consistency in countless games released before and since. Release it some more, Sega, but it will never be considered a classic from the era.
