Cruella

Between the considerable pedigree of the cast and crew, I managed to convince myself this wasn’t the worst idea in the world. They have worked on films and shows I’ve adored, but their talents are wasted here on a script that reads like some unholy amalgamation of “Joker”, “Maleficient”, and “The Devil Wears Prada”, and direction that renders “Cruella” as an AMV of itself, or rather, thirtysomething AMVs of itself because the guy that made “Lars and the Real Girl” wanted his blasted workout playlist represented in this film. Two painful hours only slightly elevated by the generous, game Emmas.
