Cryptozoo (2021 film)

“Cryptozoo”, whose title is in reference to mythical “cryptids”, thinks it is smarter than it is. The plot is pretty simple and the themes it covers are bog standard—animals are sacred, capitalism are be bad, humans are doodoo heads. It goes in hard on its animation style, which wows in trailers and the occasional tableau but quickly becomes overbearing as it goes on; I’ve seen old Flash animations that did more with less than this (no, really, it’s called “Broken Saints”, I bought it on DVD fifteen years ago). That said, I’m sure this will grow a cult following.
