dandelions (2020 game by lotus)

As a cross between a thought experiment and a visual essay, “dandelions” is pretty alright. It’s an extended argument in favor of empathy, one that introduces characters and a light narrative but is so enamored with its ideas that it’s hard to recall their names or what happens, something “dandelions” gets away with by being earnest. As a game, however, “dandelions” suffers. It’s easiest to compare it with “To the Moon”, which had almost as few gameplay mechanics but also had a good narrative. In the end, it’s easy enough to recommend “dandelions”, though there are better titles like it.
