I had loved the match that kicked off this feud and wasn’t nearly as enchanted with the match that concluded the feud (going back to old wrestling sometimes means watching things out of order), but this middle chapter blew both those encounters away. On top of the usual brutality and intense action I’ve come to expect from this era is the successful conveyance of these performers as athletes with gameplans that have to be altered on the fly, whether due to their opponents having the perfect counter or simple exhaustion setting in. Brilliant stuff capped off with an awe-inspiring finish.
