Hitman (2016 game, played on PS5 for review through “Hitman 3”)

What looks like a grimdank edgelord killing simulator with a Bourne aesthetic is, in practice, a game in which you mingle with shit at parties so the untimely passing of your latest target comes off less like “Halloween” and more like “Final Destination”. The story beats are tame here, though it earns brownie points for having a consistent world with running gags and references. It’s tempting to jump back into some of these missions and mess around to see what other madcap ways I could deal with these jerks, but I’m equally excited to see this story go proper bonkers.
