Inglourious Basterds

A gaggle of anti-fascists set out to kill Nazis and succeed. It’s not much of a plot, but Quentin Tarentino keeps his plates spinning with such grace that its considerable runtime flies by. Tarentino has relayed the hardest part of writing “Basterds” was ending it, and without getting into spoilers, he landed on taking Henry David Thoreau’s most enduring advice and I’m not sure the end result was worth it—had I been in the room, I’d have said “complicate, complicate”. Still, any movie that succeeds in making me not hate Eli Roth and BJ Novak is doing plenty right.
