Just Mercy

The case at the center of “Just Mercy” is straightforward, but this film is more concerned with the people affected by the case than the particulars, from the families of the falsely accused to the racist folk that gleefully point to the Mockingbird museum in their town to prove racism is over (yes, really). Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Foxx take time to develop their characters so they feel like real people rather than simple caricature. “Just Mercy” isn’t an exceptional legal drama, but it is a well-paced and engaging one that never feels the whole of its two-hour runtime.
