Kaos (Episode One)

The comic potential of “Kaos” sells itself with just the cast list (did anyone need to read past “Jeff Goldblum as Zeus” to be sold on this?), and that the pilot realizes this potential is commendable, though not surprising. What is surprising is how the drama part of the formula holds up, with the writing and acting working together to create a space of tangible and achingly relatable emotion without destroying the comic atmosphere of a show where everyone slaps their head as a greeting. Throw in a genuinely shocking twist and you’ve got a Hades of an opening chapter.
