Klaus (2019 film)
It’s easy to draw comparisons between this, an unfunny but crowd-pleasing amalgamation of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “The Emperor’s New Groove”, and “The Little Prince”. Both have stunning visuals attached to stories that can’t be appreciated by anyone with a decent sense of media literacy. Crucially, however, “Prince” was released at a time when there was novelty behind a Netflix exclusive having amazing visuals while “Klaus”, for as good as it looks, doesn’t have that luxury. I can imagine I’d love this if I were a child, but I am not a child so this did little for me.
