Los Huesos / The Bones

Between the elaborate fictional backstory to this (alluded to being a restoration of the earliest stop-motion film ever, made during a critical time in Chile’s history) and the pedigree, I was expecting a lot more than what I got. I’m aware I’m missing a lot of context as I didn’t process allusions to important politicians, but even if I did, it is too easy to see through the artifice and while the short did convey some unsettling elements, it felt like it could have gone so much farther with its imagery. This wasn’t bad, but the year had better shorts.
