Masato Tanaka vs. Mike Awesome / The Gladiator, from WWE One Night Stand 2005 (also billed as ECW One Night Stand)
I’ve been told JBL provides an alternate, live commentary track that highlights every flaw in this match, mostly revolving around Awesome’s lacking stamina. Whatever, I still love this violence party even as it heavily cribs from the note sheet of their past matches (most obviously their November to Remember 1999 encounter). That they’re able to replicate this level of madness after five years of *cough cough wheeze wheeze* is its own sort of impressive, and their lack of camera awareness makes the ending come across as wonderfully hysterical to me. Someone should have reined Joey Styles in on commentary, however.
