Mega Man Zero (Switch version; part of the “Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection”)

The fatal flaw of the vanilla game revolved around the lives system that could lock players into going with one life through most of the game. The optional checkpoint system in this version renders this complaint moot, and while “Zero” also suffers from an obtuse power-up system and the occasional platforming section with poor conveyance, it’s otherwise a fine character-action game disguised as a Mega Man title. What were frustrating boss encounters that prompted ragequits in the vanilla release are presented here as frustrating boss encounters that are surmountable to the average gamer given enough time. A rerelease done right.
