St. Elmo’s Fire

I’m not the first to call out “St. Elmo’s Fire” as bad cinema (Siskel, Ebert, and the Razzies have me beat by more than thirty years), but I think we’ve let this pass through our collective consciousness as a good film worth canonizing and God does it not deserve it. Every character is the worst character ever except dumbass Billy who is the worst of the worst, which might not have been an issue had the fifteen million disparate plot threads been framed in an interesting manner, and Schumacher is not up to the task. A painful experience, all told.
