Ever get stuck in a creative writing class with someone sharing their story that begins with them being unable to write a story? I have, several times, and they all sucked. Every time someone tried this, no matter how quirky, endearing, or inventive they tried to be, it always came across as lame trash from an uninspired source, failing to draw blood from a stone while playing like they are swimming in an abattoir.
