Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game (version found in the Switch port of The Cowabunga Collection played for review)

Maybe this is some part of my stupid lizard brain trying to justify an experience rather than accept this as a failed recreation of the arcade version, but I prefer to think the folks behind this port were going for a different vibe. Most enemies have enough invincibility frames to punish players who dare to treat them as pushovers, making every fight a digital dance complete with carefully considered footwork. It could stand for some fine tuning, especially in terms of recovering health and lives, but aside from the presentation, this is a substantial step up from the arcade version.
