The Batman

There are many positives one could direct towards “The Batman”. It is shot well, the soundtrack is at least conceptually interesting (I could have stood for “Ave Maria” to be used twelve fewer times), everyone turns in good performances, and it has a good story that is told well. I’d probably be unabashedly positive towards this were it not for its crushing length, but at nearly three hours, this one-note pulpy crime drama dressed up as a superhero film loses a lot of steam and goodwill heading into its final act. Still, Batman’s best live-action joint in a long time.
