The Fundamentals of Caring

“The Fundamentals of Caring” is fine. It is a film you’ve seen before, probably—a dude with a tragic past goes on a personal journey with an inspirational, witty, disabled teenager, and they meet up with a pessimistic and attractive young woman who gives them a new perspective on blehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.  There’s enough juice in the dialogue to keep this above water, but this is Sundance Fodder 101, a low-risk endeavor for all involved that might’ve been something cool if it hadn’t been done countless times before. Above all else, it is fine, making it superior to many of its kind.
