The Giver (2014 film)

I suppose that “The Giver” has aspects of it that are objectively well-executed, but I don’t fucking care. There are crucial changes to the narrative that result in a weaker story, but what’s more damning is how boring this tripe is, a soulless, soul-sucking experience that is so thoroughly ground through the Hollywood movie-making machine that its dental records would need to be consulted to determine its identity if its formaldehyde-soaked giblets weren’t already bagged and tagged by its killer. It plays out like the underachieving offspring of “The Hunger Games” and “Pleasantville”. Everything about this project is horrible cancer.
