The Lost Night
“The Lost Night” has some neat ideas and fun writing, marrying a cute aesthetic with a combat system that owes a lot to “Undertale” while feeling fresh enough to not come across as a knockoff. It also knows enough to keep itself short, clocking in at just about an hour. Too bad it runs out of steam halfway through, however, as the combat encounters and increasingly complicated attack patterns dominate what was, up until then, an even split between exploration and fighting. Player upgrades are supposed to mitigate some of this, but it really doesn’t. Worth trying out, I suppose.
