White Eye

“White Eye”, which is about seven times as good as what beat it out for the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short, can frustrate with its rough edges and being unable to justify its ambitious presentation with its intimacy but is still very much worth watching. This was shot all in one take for reasons beyond me (“Pieces of a Woman”’s one take is longer than this film) and neither of the cops can act, but the conflict that is eventually conveyed is affecting and the film achieved its goal of wounding my soul. Call me a masochist, whatever.
