In a vacuum, this is arguably acceptable. The momentum-based aspect has been thrown out and matches go along much more smoothly as a result, and the cheesy presentation and MIDI interpretations of licensed tunes are more charming than aggravating; you haven’t lived until you’ve heard a Game Boy try to blast Jimi Hendrix, Motorhead, and Rob Zombie. Outside that vacuum, however, both Fire Pro GBA titles were already on the market when this came out and both, for their faults, leave this in the dust, especially if you’re enough of a wrestling nerd to play wrestling games on the go.
