WWF WrestleMania (often referred to as “WrestleMania 1”)

Remove the iconography and “WrestleMania I” is just a bad 80’s wrestling event. Only two matches top ten minutes, the main event and, no joke, David Sammartino vs. Brutus Beefcake, resulting in a very rushed show that hardly feels worthy of its own name. Steamboat and Bourne have the first third of a great match, SD Jones getting destroyed by Bundy is strangely satisfying, and the main event is better than it has any right to be, but that these are the highlights of the show should tell of its quality. Historically important, sure, but so was the Hindenburg Disaster.
