Zodiac (2007 film)

It’s difficult to talk about this Fincher-helmed mystery thriller centered around attempts to thwart a serial killer without comparing it to the other Fincher-helmed blah blah blah, but while I’d give the slight edge to “Se7en” (mostly due to feeling an hour shorter despite being only thirty minutes shorter), “Zodiac” is an outstanding film in its own right. It follows a markedly different direction, being more of a character study of a busybody mind than a tale of a guy who kills people, and it still makes room for arguably RDJ’s most enjoyable role. Also, hot damn, that basement scene.
