Watership Down (1978 film)

Once upon a time, my parents rented this film, watched it by themselves, and returned it without screening it for their children, confident it was not appropriate for their kids because it was too boring. The film's most extreme moments are unsettling for a kids film, but they constitute little of "Watership Down" and the rest of it is mostly dull. Appreciable elements are present, like the great score, solid acting, and meaningful allegory, but the animation isn't interesting, the artwork outside of the watercolor isn't good, and it takes ages for anything to happen. Lacking, even for its time.
