Always Be My Maybe

The last damn great rom-com Netflix produced that wasn’t targeted at teenagers (“Set It Up”) held its genre in a degree of contempt, keeping the swear count high to offend your mother. “Maybe” is just as witty but replaces the venom with more wackiness and leaving room for a surprising amount of heart, not willing to settle on everything working out just because lurby lurb lurb. The biggest risk here is having the big laughs go not to either of the leads with extensive comic backgrounds but to Keanu Reeves (Keanu Reeves), and OH BOY does that risk pay off.
