Are You Afraid of the Dark? (The Tale of Laughing in the Dark)

This wasn’t the first episode of “Dark”—it isn’t even the second, depending on how you’d count the pilot—but it’s the first episode that comes to mind to many folk that watched the show as a child, owing mostly to the brilliant design of its chief antagonistic force. What stands out now, though, is how weird the rest of the episode is, from the stilted acting of the young artists (even by child actor standards) to that the dragon in the haunted house spitting actual hot fire is casually shrugged off. It’s still decent fun, but that’s about it.
