Barry (forgiving jeff)

Cable’s best dark dramedy returns after three years away with a strong episode. I’m not as over the moon as many towards some of the place setting elements, if only because I’ve been burned too hard on shows and films that have preyed on short-term goodwill that amounted to a hill of beans and I’m less willing to see how things play out, but there’s no denying the craft of the cinematography, writing, and performances here even as I’m left hoping there’s a greater purpose to the long take in the middle of the episode. I’ve missed this crazy show.
