Batman Returns (SNES version)

It’s shallow and incomplete, but those are forgivable flaws when your game feels so satisfying to play. “Returns” has a better grasp of gameplay variety than “Final Fight” as well as higher production values and overall combat scenarios. “You beat guys up” describes so many video games, but the crack of your fist against an opponent’s jaw while surprisingly well-orchestrated music booms through the speakers is a thrill not found in most games. There’s little to invite a return trip—no two-player mode or incentive to truly master the combat system—but it’s well worth going through at least once.
