Billions (Pilot)

There are several lenses through which to view “Billions” and most of them have wildly divergent ends. It is fine table setting for a conflict that could effectively sustain a whole series; it is Sorkin indulging his creative vices, complete with the show reading like a play adapted for the small screen and not getting ten minutes into the episode before the first “walk and talk”; it is a longform excuse for the proletariat to observe the petty in-fighting of the criminally upper class. I suppose I liked this well enough, though Showtime’s pedigree for oversaturation leaves me cautiously optimistic.
