Black Mirror (Be Right Back)

“When the higher hills have turned to blue / And the waves are lapping where the children grew / All that we have known will be an echo / Of days when love was true” –Alela Diane, “Take Us Back”

As far as I’m concerned, the entire episode is Martha’s scream. Not just the buildup and climactic moment, but the entire thing. It summarizes the experience the rest of “Be Right Back” is trying to show us (and the ludicrous, often comically off-putting way it gets there), of loss and what comes after, all conveyed in Martha’s shattering, primal scream.
