Black Mirror (Nosedive)

“Maybe our society's supposed to drown / Middle fingers up on the Titanic as it's going down” –El-P, from Killer Mike’s “Butane (Champion’s Anthem)”

One of only two “Black Mirror” teleplays not written by Charlie Brooker, “Nosedive” is the show’s most righteously comic hour, getting away with telegraphing its entire plot in the title by letting Bryce Dallas Howard milk every comic mishap for all it is worth. Sure, there’s satire about the dangers of boiling down our worth to social media statistics, but what lands harder and better is Howard’s manic comedy of errors. She deserves her SAG award.
