Blockbuster (Pilot)
The names the beast uses are many—“The Office”, “Schitt’s Creek”, “Abbott Elementary”, “Young Rock”, and now, “Blockbuster”, yet another comedy that aims for the hollow form of a joke rather than conveying humor. (One character’s barb goes “you forgot to brush your hair”; two others laugh over a shared memory that’s faintly conveyed to the audience.) It’s all sickening, formless and tasteless and the sort of thing that holds no value to audiences who dare ask “what is the punchline of this bit?”. There’s more value in an average cutaway gag in “Superstore” than in any of this crap.
