Ding Dong XL

There are some real treats you can find on the Switch eShop for the price of a cup of coffee, and “Ding Dong XL” is not one of those. With a one-button control scheme that sees you get points for avoiding objects, it is basically a phone game put on Switch, and while some phone games ported to Switch play better thanks to the added screen size and fidelity (“Florence” stands out), “XL” is actively hurt by blowing up its central gameplay loop. Maybe this plays fine on phones, but this is a one-trick pony whose one trick isn’t remarkable.
