Dynamite Kid vs. Tiger Mask (Satoru Sayama) for the WWF Junior Heavyweight Championship, from New Japan Summer Fight Series 2 1982 Night Nineteen

You’d think an acclaimed juniors match from 1982 wouldn’t hold up well today, and it might not depending on how you view it. Your average high-flying indie match likely host more death-defying stunts than what’s exhibited here, and seeing limbwork done by guys who don’t have submission finishers is more adorable than enthralling. That said, these guys work a hard-hitting style that comes across more as a legitimate contest than a stunt show, helped greatly by that sometimes they seem to stop having a standard wrestling match in favor of attempted murder. Among the best matches these two had together.
