ECW Barely Legal 97
I’ve got a feeling that my complaints against this show will be recurring elements of most ECW PPVs—tasteless language fueling angles, reckless chair shots to the noggin, and matches that lived and died on their innovations over their story. This was fine—even, arguably, necessary—for the promotion’s health in 1997, but show this to anyone not versed in the company’s significance to its genre and they might come away thinking of ECW as a promising but problematic promotion. The fun six-man match and emotionally exhausting main event angle put “Barely Legal” in the black, but just barely (PUNZ).
