Hannibal (Season One)
The debut season of this prequel series is haunted by a few flaws. The romantic relations feel weird even in the context of this story, and that characters can practically teleport to where the plot needs them becomes a magic bean we’re forced to accept. Lesser shows might have been sunk by these flaws, but “Hannibal” douses itself in atmosphere and gets further into the heads of its characters than most dramas would even think about going. It’s the rare case of the investigator being as interesting as his antagonist, and the constant brutality is earned through mature, respectful storytelling.
