Heretic (2024 film)

I was sick of long conversations about theology conducted opposite self-righteous, arrogant, perpetually inebriated men after the second time I encountered one at a college party; frankly, that this was made by the dingbats behind “A Quiet Place” and somehow managed to not suck is a miracle (and, thus, proof God exists, I guess). The acting is fine, and the script is engaging when it stops overstating everything, but the conversations become repetitive, aren’t blocked or shot in an interesting fashion, and have the depth of a kiddie pool, and they’re most of the film. Overrated, though far from awful.
