Holy Demon Army (Akira Taue and Toshiaki Kawada) vs. Kenta Kobashi and Mitsuharu Misawa for the All Japan World Tag Team Championship, from AJPW Super Power Series 1995 Night Fifteen

If advertising the merits of wrestling above other avenues of entertainment had to be limited to one bout, I struggle to think of a better alternative than this. The fantastical action never violates its established sense of logic and emotion; for as brutal as it gets, even those who don’t speak Japanese can easily understand what is happening and why. Combine this with evolving relationships between these supermen, along with nigh-flawless execution of the holds (one spinkick doesn’t land right) and you’re left with a top-tier bout that I feel set a new standard that has yet to be matched.
