Marvel Snap (as of January 2023)

The lovechild of “Magic: The Gathering”, “Gwent”, poker, and multi-level marketing through late-stage capitalism, “Marvel Snap” always feels like it’s giving you something to do without asking for your money (disclosure: I’ve put more than twenty hours into this game and haven’t spent a cent). I’ve seen monstrous decks that cannibalize themselves and spit out armies of imposing figures, but I still feel valid with my dorky deck anchored by Odin, tigers, and a Netflix protagonist, and that the game can make both high-level play and my dumb donkey tactics feel viable speaks for its welcoming accessibility and promising future.
