Mia Yim vs. Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Championship, from WWE NXT TakeOver: Toronto

I was hoping a second viewing with fresh eyes would help this match shine, but nope, this wasn’t all that great. I like the idea of the match, of Yim neutralizing Baszler’s offense by painting outside the lines and Baszler keeping up by dint of her being on another level as a performer, but the awkward transitions and lack of exciting action means the match is logical but unspectacular, a disappointment considering how good these two usually are. Perhaps a rematch could see them iron out the flaws presented here; I mean, it’s that or Dakota Kai comes back, right?
