Minari
It speaks to the power of the cast and production that “Minari”, which tells yet another rural tale that amounts to “man makes plan and God laughs”, is as compelling as it is. The format practically spoils where it is all going, but we’re still rooting for the happiness and well-being of the family and remain invested in whatever is happening in the moment. It might have all gone done smoother with a shorter runtime or reining in the heavy-handed tendencies (or both), but I’m happy films like this exist and I was satisfied with my experience of watching it.
