Mouthwashing (2024 video game)

The chase sequences didn’t land for me; the feeling of disempowerment they attempted to convey quickly gave way to frustration, and in a game that’s otherwise so tightly and purposefully paced, they’re the closest “Mouthwashing” gets to padding. Everything else about this game is masterfully executed, a scary story where the most unsettling elements come from both the story and how it is told. This is the sort of story where crucial motivational factors are not outright said, expecting an attentive and intelligent audience to fill in the gaps. You’d think more games would show their customers this much respect.
